We are Tim, Susan and Rachel Vermaas with Good News for Little People.  We are a conservative, Independent Baptist ministry that does Vacation Bible Schools, Family Crusades and Kid's Crusades.  Along with these meetings we also conduct Teacher Training.  Our goal is the evangelism of children and their families through this missions endeavor.  Brother Tim uses the King James Version of the Bible to communicate the Gospel.  It is our desire to share the Good News of Salvation so that many will make the decision of accepting Christ so that one day Heaven will be their eternal Home. We use ventriloquism and puppets as a tool to reinforce the message time.  Tim also uses illusions or magic to teach Bible truths that correspond with the message of the evening.

Recent Prayer Letters

 Dear Family and Friends,

We just finished a Crusade at Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church, in Dalton, GA where 10 precious young people came to know the Lord as their personal Savior.  God really met with us this week!

The Crusade started off with 8 year old Macy coming to accept Christ as her Savior on Sunday evening.  On Monday evening a severe thunder storm came through and knocked out the power just as Tim started to preach (and it did not come back on until 10:30 that night).  Tim preached a message entitled,  "3 Dying Men" in the dark, and without the sound system or video projection.  The only light we had was from the moon light shining through the windows in the back of the auditorium.  As Tim preached in this 800 seat auditorium, you could hear a pin drop.  Tim could not see his notes, but the computer stayed on with battery power, so he was able to use it to help him keep up with where he was in the message.  God really worked in a lot of hearts that night.

On Tuesday evening 2 young people came to receive Christ during the invitation.  When Katey (Pastor's 16 year old daughter) got home that evening, she went into her Dad's Study and began to share with him (with tears streaming down her face) how that after sitting in on the Pre-Meeting on Sunday afternoon, she realized that she had never really been saved.  Her Dad had the privilege of leading his precious daughter to Christ. Hallelujah!!

There were many tears on Wednesday evening as Katey shared her testimony during the invitation time.  After her testimony, 11 year old Caylee went to her Dad and let him know that she needed to be saved.  Praise God!!  After the service, a young man named Justin came to the Pastor wanting to be saved. Justin let us know that he understood the Gospel for the first time during the message on Monday night.  He had heard the story about the 3 men hanging on crosses, but he never understood why.  The story about Tina and Mary walking along the railroad tracks helped him to understand why Jesus stayed on the Cross - it was His love for us! Justin's whole countenance was changed.  This young man and his Mom were there every night of the Crusade.

On Thursday, a young lady called Pastor Guffey (just before the Crusade started) to let him know that she would not be able to come that night, but that she needed to be saved (she had been there all week).  Pastor was able to lead her to Christ over the phone.  Then after the service that night, 3 more young people came to Pastor wanting to accept Christ (2 of them were teenagers).  IT WAS AN   AWESOME  WEEK!!

Please pray with us about our next Meeting in Roanoke, VA at Clearbrook Baptist Church.  We are excited to see what God  is going to do!!  You folks take care and drop us a line some time to let us know how God is working in your neck of the woods (that last phrase was highly influenced by our little friend, "Dusty").

July 18, 2008

Dear Family and Friends,

We are on our way from Marquette, MI to Dalton, GA - 1,100 miles.  Please pray for our safety as we travel today and tomorrow.  It has been a great week of Meetings up here in the U.P. (Upper Peninsula).  We praise God for the 4 who chose to accept Christ as their personal Savior!  It was an

encouraging time as we were refreshed by the fellowship of these dear people.  We were welcomed with the sweetest prayer meeting we have ever been in.  It thrills our hearts when a Church is prayed-up and ready for the Meeting.

So far this year we have seen 54 precious people accept Christ as their personal Savior.  Praise God for how He has worked in hearts!  We pray that many more will come to know Christ yet this year.

Mackinaw Bridge

We just walked along the shore of Lake Superior and are now headed for the (5 mile long) Mackinaw Bridge, where we will see Lake Michigan on one side and Lake Huron on the other. The next time we are here we'd like to ride on the glass bottom boats and see some of the ship wrecks along Lake Superior.  It was interesting to picnic on Lake Superior and watch the barges dump coal at the coal-burning electric plant and then turn around and load-up with iron pellets to take downstream to the steal mills.

 "Pasties"

One of the neatest things about traveling from state-to-state is experiencing the different cultures within our United States.  We were able to try some "Pasties" (pronounced "Pass-T").  They are meat, onion and potato filled turnovers that are real popular in mining towns.  If they were pronounced "Pasty" they could be called, "Tasty Pasties" because they are quite tasty.

 We felt "Bagged"

A funny thing happened while we were at Lake Superior.  We went on a picnic with the Pastor and his family and another couple at Presque Isle Harbor.  It is a very beautiful area, but they have stable flies that are as thick as gnats - only stable flies BITE (even through your socks).  As we were getting everything ready for the picnic, the couple who arranged the outing also brought brown grocery bags for us to put our feet in.  Yes, you heard it right - we put our feet in grocery bags, and do you know . . . the flies stayed on the outside of the grocery bag instead of on our legs.  Of course, Tim needed 2 bags (one for each foot) - it was quite funny.  We felt "bagged."  (HA!)

5th Wheel Update

As of now, we owe $2,500.00 on our new 5th Wheel.  We praise God for how He has so graciously    provided for this need.  It has been such a blessing for Rachel to have her own bedroom and play area.  We are thankful to those of you who have given to help this need become a reality.  Please continue to pray with us for the remaining funds needed to pay it off.

We are excited about our time of ministry at Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church, in Dalton, GA.  Pray with us that God would work in hearts and many would choose to accept Christ as their Savior.

Well, I will close for now.  May God bless you as you continue to serve Him!
